Super Zomboy Z

Video games being played in virtual reality will probably never go out of trend. One of the latest prototypes to be launched in these video games is the Super Zomboy Z.

Most action based video games being launched for virtual reality aim to give the player a completely immersive experience by basing him or her as the protagonist of the game. The player will play the game as first person shooter and his avatar will be the main character around which the whole game is based. Almost all games in this genre have been released in the first person so citing examples isn’t really necessary. What is important, however, is to mention those few and far between video games that give a third person perspective to the player. One example of a virtual reality video game based on the third person would be Lucky’s Tale. Another one being instigated very soon – maybe even as soon as this week – is the Super Zomboy Z.

The action game has been created by indie developer ‘Noowanda’. A prototype has been launched for those players interested in checking Super Zomboy Z out. The game begins with avatars seated around a virtual table with players having the option to toggle their view using the Oculus Rift’s positional tracking – which has been showcased in the second development kit (DK2). The main aim of Super Zomboy Z is for players to avoid crowds of incoming zombies by shooting at them with weapons included in the game. Players can make use of shotguns and mini guns to harm or delay the dangerous approach of the zombies. The score is being kept by the game and will keep on increasing as long as the player is alive. Each player gets a total of three lives, after which the game ends.

The demo version of Super Zomboy Z has been launched so that users can try to get a feel for how the game works and how to navigate the third person perspective. To do that, Super Zomboy Z affords players a chance to get unlimited ammunition for a range of weapons which they use to hold off weaker zombies. The developer has yet to mention when the full version of the game Super Zomboy Z will be released and which extra features might be available in that version. The demo is compatible with Oculus Rift’s first development kit (DK1) as well. Super Zomboy Z is available for free download on the Oculus Share website. Virtual Reality Times will carry on following the Super Zomboy Z’s progress in the future, reporting back with the latest updates.
