Kris Menace

It seems like virtual reality is the latest trend in every major industry – from video games to film to design applications and even music.

2014 has been an extremely happening year for the world of virtual reality in collaboration with music. Many new videos, albums, applications and live performances were revealed on virtual reality. These include legends like Sir Paul McCartney, Coldplay, The Who and Jack White. Harmonix – a very high profile video game developer has also launched great new video games that have received instant fame and popularity.

This week, another music video is being launched for virtual reality featuring the immensely talented Kris Menace who is known for electronic music. This new experience is basically about a track on Kris Menace’s latest album and has been released by Matrix Technologies. Interested viewers can listen and watch the track using the virtual reality headset created by Oculus Rift. The song has been titled ‘The Entirety of Matter’ and comes with a whole new video developed specifically for watching in virtual reality using the Oculus Rift head mounted display. To complement the beat, sync and tune of the song, a range of sequences can be viewed in this video which shows how much of an effort has been put into developing it. Matrix Technologies has proposed that for maximum enjoyment, users plug in headphones with the second development kit by Oculus Rift (DK2) although support for the first development kit (DK1) has also been included.

Kris Menace was originally named Christophe Hoeffel and started using his pseudonym in the year 2005. He started out as a songwriter and producer in the 90s and released his debut single track in 2005. The single turned out to be a huge hit and was re-released by another company with various remixes on offer, along with a professionally shot music video for the track. Kris Menace soon founded his own label, calling it ‘Compuphonic’ and continued to release single tracks with his own imprint. 2006 and 2007 turned out to be extremely profitable years for the electronic musician and he soon started becoming a household name. Menace has charted a number of times and even now continues to work with huge names in the music industry.

Menace’s ‘The Entirety of Matter’ can be downloaded for free on the Oculus Share website where it is available for PC. It is also available for download on iOS and Android systems. Virtual Reality Times will keep following the progress of Kris Menace and report back with further details as soon as possible.
