Grim Fandango Remastered Now Available for Pre-Orders
Grim Fandango is a well-known and widely loved neo-noir adventure game with a touch of dark comedy. First released in 1998 by LucasArts for Windows, the game is based on Aztec mythology and involves collecting objects, solving puzzles and conversing with other characters. Tim Schafer, Grim Fandango’s project leader, announced during Sony’s press conference at E3 in late 2014 that a remastered version of the adventure game will be available for various platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platform in January 2015. The game is designed by Tom’s company Double Fine Productions which was founded in 2000.
The price Grim Fandango Remastered was unknown until Gog.com made an announcement today. The news is that DRM-free download will be just for $15! The game is supposed to release on 27th January and die-hard fans of Grim Fandango have already begun pre-ordering while some are waiting for the reviews. We think that the $15 is a very fair price for a wonderful adventure game.
The remastered version will have several new features. Manny Calavera, the protagonist of Grim Fandango and the only playable character, has been upgraded to high-definition graphics, the soundtrack is completely recomposed and there are hours of developer commentary! System requirements include a dual-core CPU, 4 gigs of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4670 or Nvidia GTX 285, at least 512 MB VRAM and Intel HD Graphics 4000.
The game follows the story of Manny Calavera, a dead travel agent who is looking for love in the afterlife. When the game was initially released in 1998, it received quite a few negative reviews regarding its software, loading time and camera angles. However, most of the reviews were positive and it soon became one of the most popular and critically acclaimed games. It received numerous awards and was the highest-rated game of its times. Sadly, the game did not do well commercially and soon LucasArts cast it aside. It was long before anyone forgot Grim Fandango and now that it is making a comeback, the old fans are running to pre-order it. It looks like Grim Fandango Remastered will be played for a long time!
