Wayfair Opens 3D Model API to Developer Community
Wayfair, the world’s biggest online shop that specializes in home furnishing and decorations, recently announced that it launched its first-party 3D Model API.
Wayfair Makes Available Over 10,000 3D Models
This platform, developed by Wayfair’s research and development team, will let you access to more than 10,000 3D furniture and décor models. So, if you are a developer, you can freely use these realistic models to integrate them into your application. This is the first API launch ever for Wayfair since the company was founded more than 14 years ago.
“Technology innovation is deeply engrained in Wayfair’s culture. Through our team’s dedicated efforts to expand our 3D model library to encompass thousands of products, we now have one of the largest 3D selections of any home décor company. We are excited to be first to market with our world-class 3D model API for home furnishings, and look forward to seeing future developments that stretch beyond the home space.”
Said co-founder and co-chairman of Wayfair, Steve Conine.
Wayfair Is Deeply Involved With Virtual Reality Innovation
By developing its own technology, Wayfair has achieved an overwhelming 3D model library that serves its constant innovation both in photographic rendering and virtual/augmented reality. Some of its most recent applications, Wayfair View and Patio Playground, use these 3D models to allow a superior and immersive shopping experience for Wayfair’s consumers.
“At Wayfair, we never stop innovating as we continue to transform the way people shop for their homes. With the launch of our 3D model API, we are enabling people to visualize furnishings and décor in their homes in a way that was never possible before. Whether harnessing the technology to help real estate developers better envision the interior design of a new building or for a video game integration to add an extra level of authenticity to the player experience, we are excited to explore what’s next with our API launch.”
