Macy’s VR App Let You See Furniture in Your Home
Macy’s is now betting on Virtual Reality and mobile checkout options in order to get more customers buying its products, particularly the furniture line.
Watch Your Macy’s Furniture in VR before Buying
Macy’s has invested in Virtual Reality technology so people can see items placed in their home to know how they will look like before actually buying them. The checkout feature will greatly reduce the time you spend at the mall but the VR update will let you design any room in your home without actually having to buy the furniture or making strong imaginative efforts. Both updates will start rolling out this month.
Customers wanting to use the Macy’s store mobile checkout need to be connected to its Wi-Fi network and from there they have to scan the items with their phone camera. There will be a special station close to the door waiting for customers to verify the purchase with an employee, making it relatively easier and quicker to do the checkout. The company says that everything in the store will be available within the app except the expensive jewelry and things from the leased departments.
In the case of the VR tool, users will be able to layout the design and shape of their rooms with a tablet provided by Macy’s. Once they have completed their rough designs, customers can place virtual versions of items all over the room and then wear a VR headset to see how they look in their home.
Macy’s won’t have enough with mobile checkout and Virtual Reality room design. Next month, the company will release an update for its mobile app that will allow users see how items really look like in their rooms and not just rough approximations. Something very much like what IKEA has done before.
