Virtual reality musical applications are sprouting all over. There are apps ranging from the VR music/rhythm games such as Beat Saber to virtual reality music production platforms. The rhythm action genre is one of the most promising and entails gameplay which enables players to punch, shoot or slash their way through the VR environment to the rhythm of some select music.

Then there are the virtual reality apps or platforms that you can use to actually create music in virtual reality. There are a couple of such apps that provide various unique approaches to VR music production. The latest one is Modulia Studio which has been developed for both VR music creation as well as for live performances.

Modulia Studio is compatible with both Oculus Rift and Oculus Rift S and is a standalone app that you can use to generate your own tunes. The app features an array of instruments that users can manipulate in virtual reality to create music. These can be played, moved, resized, recorded and also saved. It’s a complete suite that you can use to create, record and save your music. The app also includes editing and finetuning features.

Modulia Studio can be used by both beginners as well as fairly experienced musicians. To fully exploit its capabilities, you can use it in conjunction with music creation software like Ableton Live. Combining these two enables artists to create music within a virtual 3D space while being able to access all the features that they are familiar with. The Modulia Studio platform can also be used in conjunction with any MIDI-compatible Digital Audio Workstation.

Apart from music creation, the Modulia Studio platform can also be used in producing live or recorded performances thanks to the incorporation of cameras and a host of visual effects. This can be realized either on stage or through sharing via social media channels.

The music creation app is already available in three versions on Oculus Store. To get you started, you can begin with the free intro version. The premium versions unlock more features and include the Plus version which can be unlocked for $39.99. The Pro version offers you the full package and is available for $199.99.

In the Pro version of the Modulia Studio app, users will be able to create a vast collection of instruments without any limitations. The studio has also been dematerialized so users can create music without having to grapple with technical issues or cumbersome instruments like in the real world.

The app is currently downloadable from the Oculus Store. The developer, Theremix Tech, will continue adding enhancements to the app during its Early Access.
