You can now submit your applications for the fourth annual Oculus Launch Pad Boot Camp 2019. The program has been developed to help support promising developers and creators who come from diverse backgrounds through hands-on training and support that empowers them to iterate their unique ideas and help bring these ideas to the market.

Virtual reality is currently a very exciting niche because it is beginning to live up to the hype so to speak. There is a lot of stuff happening around, companies are coming up with lots of cool gadgets and the developer and creator ecosystem is starting to thrive in a very big way. If you weren’t sold on to the hype a few years back, now there are lots of compelling reasons to hop onto the bandwagon.

In spite of the buzz and the many happenings, VR will only reach its potential when there is a vast and diverse ecosystem of self-motivated creators churning out lots of new content and who are incentivized by a receptive industry. The Oculus Launch Pad is a program designed to support such kinds of creators and a foster a developer ecosystem that will transform these ideas into apps and experiences.

The program will be a two-day bootcamp which takes place this September in California. This bootcamp is geared at helping empower some 100 professionals to grow in their field as emerging leaders. Selection for participation will be subject to verification and those that are selected will get admission to the bootcamp along with hardware support, travel support, on-site meals and an admission to the Oculus Connect 6 developer conference which takes place over two days in late September soon after the Bootcamp. Admission to Connect will be free for all bootcamp participants.

The bootcamp will include multiple hands-on courses with some of the industry leaders which have been crafted to help foster and grow your passion for virtual reality development.

Participants of the Oculus Launch Pad will also receive three months of development support and virtual reality education support after the bootcamp so as to help them proceed with the app development process. With extra coaching from the Oculus experts, they’ll be able to join a fast-growing online community of peers, as they finish working on their prototype experience game. When the program concludes, the participants will also be given an opportunity to showcase their creations at the Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA and to learn about the next phase of their development journey as they prepare to launch their work and even apply for extra Oculus Support.

The Launch Pad Candidates will also be provided with an opportunity to apply for a competitive scholarship which ranges from $5,000 to $50,000. A full scholarship program will amount to a total of $250,000.

Applications for the Oculus Launch Pad are open until August 23rd 2019. The Oculus Launch Pad 2019 will only be open to legal residents or those who are physically based in the U.S. or Canada. The applicant must also be a non-minor in their respective state or province (Canada). Take time to go through the terms and conditions before applying.
