The upcoming VR FPS Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister will have multiplayer support around launch time next month.

The Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister is a VR first-person shooter game that will give players a single-player campaign at release. The developer Pixel Toys has, however, stated that a cooperative multiplayer mode of the game has also been planned to come at release of the campaign or “fairly soon after” the initial release of the title.

According to Pixel Toys Creative Lead/Project Director James Horn in a statement to UploadVR, the studio is currently working on different modes and is currently prepping one slated for the initial release and is “more down the horde mode line”.

A horde mode refers to a wave-based survival mode. Battle Sister features various enemy types that suit this kind of mode. Horn has explained that the co-op mode of the game will also be limited to two players initially but the studio hopes to bring it to four players. The competitive modes are, however, expected to come next year.

For teams that wish to do PVPs, there will be a number of levels that will offer them an Aztec or Goldeneye feel.

Horn stated that the motivation to introduce the multiplayer mode was triggered by the surprise success seen in adding similar modes to Drop Dead.

Battle Sister is expected to launch on Oculus Quest in December this year. The other VR platforms are set to follow next year.
