There is now 90Hz support for another major Quest 2 game, Echo VR, which adds one of the key features of the headset to this popular title.

The 90Hz support for Echo VR has gone live following a hotfix for the zero-gravity multiplayer hit that was launched this week enabling official support for the new industry-leading framerate on Quest 2.  The support means Echo VR matches will now be smoother and more convincing than what you would get with the Quest 1’s 72Hz display. The 90Hz display could also give you some significant edge when it comes to online matches.

The hotfix will also address issues to do with controller dead zones. There have been reports that these were not working right on the Quest 2 controllers. There are lots of other tweaks and fixes.

Echo VR is a top-ranking title and is one of the most popular Quest games so it is great to see that the title is seeing continued support on the platform. Two months ago, the developer Ready at Dawn revealed that it is in the process of bringing the expansion of the game, Echo Combat, to Oculus Quest, even though the plans for these may change in the future.

Ready at Dawn is also continuing to work on Lone Echo 2, an Oculus Rift exclusive which appears set for release in 2021. There hasn’t been a solid single-player follow-up in a long time and it isn’t clear whether we might have major changes to the release. Perhaps it might also see a SteamVR launch like the Facebook-published Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.
