Interactive VR Movie ‘Baba Yaga’ Arrives on Quest Next Year as a Platform Exclusive
Baobab Studios’ latest interactive VR movie ‘Baba Yaga’ is set to be released as a Quest exclusive in early 2021.
Recently, it was listed on Oculus Store’s coming soon section. In a previous tweet, the studio had also confirmed that the piece would be due next year. One thing the listing on the Oculus Store confirms is that the piece will be an Oculus Quest exclusive.

Baba Yaga takes you on a first-person experience where the viewers will embody one or two sisters who are the daughters of a sickly village chief. In your quest to find a cure, you and your sister Magda will head into an enchanted forest where you will face a mysterious titular witch. Baba Yaga features various interactive elements at key moments. The all-star cast features Kate Winslet who plays Baba Yaga, Daisy Ridley who plays Magda as well as Glenn Close who plays the Chief.
Baba Yaga premiered at the 2020 Venice Film Festival in August this year and the stunning visuals along with its interactive elements were quite evident. However, it is still in the “safe territory” of what you would expect from Baobab Studios.
The Baba Yaga listing has come on the back of the release Invasion! on Quest which is one of Baobab’s original VR movies. Last year, Baobab Studios also launched the highly acclaimed Bonfire.
Baobab Studios has been one of the most promising storytellers in VR but most of its productions over the past four years have been right within the territory. We are yet to get something quite revolutionary and outside the mold from the team.
