The Wizards: Dark Times will get a co-op multiplayer mode later in the year after its Quest launch. The developer studio Carbon Studios announced this week that the new mode will allow players to team up and take on enemies in an arena-based challenge.

Players in the mode will also be able to select a character class along with magical affinity before they take up the increasingly difficult enemy hordes.

Players will, of course, need to master the many gesture-based spells using their Virtual Reality controllers. The studio will also design and add new enemy types that players can take on in this mode.

The co-op update is set to arrive in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2021 and Carbon Studios has promised that there will be a lot more fresh updates for Dark Times. The studio is already working on a Quest port that is set to launch before the co-op multiplayer update.

The Carbon Studios is also working on more content to enhance the Dark Times’ story campaign. The campaign was the main feature in the title when it launched last year on PC VR and it evolved over the original The Wizards with new spells and linear progression. These updates will be rolling out throughout this year and in 2022.

The campaign in The Wizards: Dark Times is impressive. Every few seconds, there is the need for some grand hand gestures with which to summon magic or where you will need to use your hands to reach out to and interact with the things around you. The magic system in Dark Times is not just intuitive but also fun to master and occurs in a fantastical world that provides players with a very unique adventure.

Carbon Studios is also working on a new Warhammer VR game known as Tempestfall that is set in the Age of Sigma universe. This new title is coming to Quest and PC VR later in the year.
