A lot of teases have emerged over the past two weeks that strongly lend credence to HTC’s plans at the VIVECON this week. At least two virtual reality headsets are set to be unveiled. A report now suggests that HTC will reveal the Vive Focus 3 and the Vive Pro 2 headsets at the event. Both of these headsets are firmly targeting enterprise use-cases going by the pricing.

Protocol reportedly saw documents where HTC announces the Vive Pro Focus 3 Business Edition which is the next iteration of its standalone VR headset and the Vive Pro 2 is the next device in HTC’s line of tethered PC VR headsets. The prices of the two headsets reportedly appeared, albeit briefly, on the e-commerce website known as Alzashop where the headsets were supposedly listed as the Vive Focus 3 Business Edition that retails for $1,771 with the Vive Pro 2 listed as retailing for $1,012. Should this information be accurate, then HTC is, no doubt, targeting the enterprise market. A text accompanying the teaser images of the HTC headsets reads: “Now that the accessories are out of the way, let’s get down to business.” This further suggests that the two headsets will be targeting the business end of the market. The accessories referred to in the text are the Vive Tracker and Vive Facial Tracker that were launched recently. On the VIVECON website, there is also mention that the event will feature “game-changing VR headsets.” HTC hasn’t released any specifications yet but the Protocol article states that the two headsets will be available at the end of May 2021.

The VIVECON 2021 is starting in under 24 hours. The event session talks schedule provides further confirmation of HTC’s focus on the enterprise use-cases. All the sessions will focus on training, collaboration, design, health, and arts. The talk on location-based entertainment (LBE) is probably the only session at the VIVECON 2021 that will be remotely connected to gaming but we might see some surprises here, too.

Participants who sign up for the event get an opportunity to win “a next-level Vive VR system”, according to information on the website.

The VIVECON 2021 takes place from 11th May at 5 pm BST until 12th May. Day one will be focused on the keynote while the second day will host the various developer sessions.
