Pico Announces the Neo 3 Pro and Neo 3 Eye Headsets for Enterprise Market
Pico Interactive announced two new VR headsets last week, the Pico Neo 3 Pro and Pico Neo 3 Pro Eye. Both of these headsets are geared at the enterprise market and will soon be available in Europe and North America.
These two new headsets are arriving on the back of the consumer-focused Pico Neo 3 which was launched last month and is available only in China. During the launch of the standard consumer-focused headset last month, the company had promised that the two new enterprise headsets would follow soon.
Like their consumer-focused counterpart, the Pico Neo 3 Pro and the Pico Neo 3 Pro Eye headsets are powered by the Snapdragon XR2 platform. Both of these headsets also have an optical 6DoF controller tracking instead of the electromagnetic controller found in the Neo 2 Pro and Neo 2 Pro Eye headsets.
Both of the new headsets have a 5.5” display along with a resolution of 3664 x 1920. They also feature a 90Hz refresh rate. Both headsets have a field of view that is slightly lower than that found in the previous generation of the Pico line of headsets. They have a FOV of 98 degrees as opposed to the 101-degree FOV found in the Pico Neo 2 headsets.
The Pico Neo 2 headsets had a fixed IPD while both the Pico Neo 3 Pro and Pico Neo 3 Pro Eye have adjustable IPD settings at 58mm, 63.5mm, and 69mm.
Both the enterprise-focused headsets have upgraded WiFi 6 capabilities just like the standard Pico Neo 3 model. Both the Neo 3 Pro and Pro Eye also feature improved guardian support due to the increase in the number of cameras to four from the previous two in the last generation. While the Pico Neo 2 headsets only supported a 3x3m guardian, both the Pico Neo 3 Pro and Pico Neo 3 Pro Eye offer support for a 10x10m guardian space.
The Pico Neo 3 Pro Eye will also extend the partnership of the Neo 2 generation with a built-in eye-tracking capability from Tobii.
Both of Pico’s new enterprise-focused headsets will also feature DisplayPort and NVIDIA’s Direct Mode support which should be capable of streaming PC VR content at 4K via Pico VR Streaming when it is connected to a VR-ready computer through the DisplayPort.
The Pico Neo 3 headset is priced at $699 while the Neo 3 Pro Eye is priced at $899. The headsets will soon be available for pre-orders for enterprise buyers via the company’s website.
