The much-anticipated Resident Evil 2 and 3 VR mods are finally available.

VR modder praydog has been developing the ports for quite some time now and they have finally been launched on GitHub.

The modding has been a good effort. Both games are running in the first person and the mods also provide full motion controller support, enabling you to fully embed yourself in the experience. The mod has also implemented weapon collision allowing you to realistically swing a knife and even watch the original cutscenes of the game in full 3D instead of simply cutting to a virtual window (however, this will break down the composition of some of the scenes in the game).

To play the mods, you must own the original games. You will also need a decent rig for this as the added virtual reality performance requirements add to the games’ already demanding requirements.

Factoring the official ports along with these two VR mods, users are now able to play numerous mainline Resident Evil games using a VR headset. Resident Evil 7 has a wonderful PSVR version that goes back to 2017 while Resident Evil 4 arrived on Quest 2 in October 2021. It is possible that we might also see full VR support for Resident Evil 8 down the line so we all keep our fingers crossed.
