Horizon Worlds Adds a Large Library of Pre-Made Assets
Horizon Worlds has added more than 100 pre-made items in its new Asset Library feature. Now users can access a massive library of pre-made assets in the virtual creation tool.
Horizon Worlds is still in open beta in the only two markets where it is currently accessible: US and Canada. The metaverse platform enables users on both Meta Quest and Rift to create worlds, experiences, and objects and share these with their friends and others. However, until now, a user has had to create an item or prop that they’d want to use in Horizon Worlds from scratch. This is alright for creators who wish to build their own virtual content in Horizon Worlds from scratch but if you’d rather not create your unique assets, that has been a headache. With the addition of a large library of pre-made assets, the Asset Library, you can now quickly weave out stuff from the available assets.
At the moment, the Asset Library consists of a curated list consisting of 3D assets that have been created by Meta staff along with some of the Horizon community members. You can now quickly tap into the relevant assets contained therein and bring these into your Horizon Worlds creations.
The feature also allows you to see how the items in the Asset Library have been created so you can get some tips that you can use in your own creations.
It is still not possible to add user-generated content, the Holy Grail that has built other metaverse-like worlds, to the Asset Library. However, Meta has promised to increase the number and breadth of 3D assets in the library gradually. The company has also asked users to share ideas on Horizon Worlds assets they wish added to the library and to upvote on what they wish to see added next.
At the moment, it is still not possible for Horizon Worlds community members to monetize their creations via the new Asset Library feature.
We will update you as Meta adds more features to the Horizon Worlds virtual creation platform.
