Beat Saber fans can now create their own levels thanks to a new spatial editor.

Beat Saber maker Beat Games has incorporated a new way of customizing the virtual reality game. Through update v1.22.2, a new 3D level editor has been added to both Steam and the Rift Store. The Level Editor enables players to better adjust the rhythm game than was possible with the old official editor.

The 3D level editor is accessible from the main menu and is currently in beta. However, it still has some technical teething issues. The new additions were unveiled in an official announcement video by the beat mappers “Freeek” and “Kozelan” who have considerable experience creating Beat Saber levels.

Compared to how you do it in the virtual reality game, the level editor works in a very classic way on PC. When creating your own levels, you simply need to connect the music via the blue and red boxes and then slash to the beat.

Two notes that were added in March –“Chain Notes” and “Arc Notes”- are already supported. The Arc Notes constitute strips of light that give players information on the progress of the swings. The Chain Notes consist of blocks of notes that have been divided into several segments and which players have to completely cut through to earn all the points.

Variable speed (BPM) is also supported by the Level Editor. This function was already available in the Electronic Mixtape with stars such as Darude and Deadmau5. The Level Editor also supports various lighting systems from past music packs.

Level Editor Not Yet Complete

The new 3D Level Editor will only support 90-degree and 360-degree levels in the future following later updates.
