The Vuzix Blade 2 augmented reality smart glasses will be available in September, the company has announced. The smart glasses target the enterprise market and are suited for employees who want to work hands-free.

The company has now announced its latest smart glasses product, the Vuzix Blade 2 AR smart glasses. This is an augmented reality workforce solution that has been built according to the company’s Blade form factor.

The company says the Vuzix Blade 2 XR smart glasses provide various advanced features as well as a high performance designed to meet the enterprise requirements of connected workers. The Vuzix Blade 2 smart glasses cost $1,299 and will be purchasable from the company’s website from September this year.

The Vuzix Blade 2 are enterprise smart glasses that have been exclusively configured for industry use cases. They run on a high-performance Qualcomm processor that now powers Android 11 and can support enterprise-focused apps. The glasses also have good power efficiency.

The Blade 2 XR glasses provide integration with MDMs. They pack 40GB of integrated storage and also feature enhanced security. They also have greater connectivity options via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and support 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths for improved network access.

The display features see-through waveguide optics for private and ultra-bright displays with 24-bit full-color images in sunlight or indoor settings. According to the company, the lightweight form factor in the Vuzix Blade 2 smart glasses also assures users of all-day comfort and protection. The form factor allows frontline workers to safely collaborate thanks to their noise-canceling microphones and integrated speakers. The glasses have the ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses certification. If you have eye problems, there is the option for prescription inserts to provide vision correction.

Vuzix says that its Vuzix Blade smart glasses were already preferred by enterprise clients in various market verticals including energy, healthcare, construction, and retail among others and the new model was developed in response to the demand for “a more muscular version” that packs greater performance and functionality without compromising on the wearability and small form factor.

According to the company, its Vuzix Blade 2 smart glasses have been optimized for enterprise use cases. Vuzix Corporation says the smart glasses provide the kind of versatility needed in disparate working environments with features such as head tracking, voice commands, and a touchpad that enables workers to get easy access to “see-what-I-see” VR assist and collaboration software, work instructions, real-time data, mixed reality, video streaming, and HD photography.
