Timescope Is Your Virtual Reality Time Machine
French startup, Timescope, is developing an amazing idea to provide people a better insight of Parisian history with the help of Virtual Reality terminals.
Travel Back in Time to 1628’s Paris with Timescope
Timescope creates stationary VR stations where people can get close and travel instantly to hundreds of years in the past to watch interesting historical sites exactly as they were in those times. Of course, it is all powered by Virtual Reality technology and a realistic 3D content.
Every piece of content inserted in the experience was prepared from real archives, such as maps and graphic materials from the time. And everything was validated by professional French historians. The developing team is made of skillful artists that excel at making animations, special effects, and realistic 3D content.
Timescope already installed the first terminal in the Palace de la Bastille, an important historical place in French history. The Bastille prison was a monument of royal authority during the French Revolution, so it was a big deal when it got destroyed by revolutionaries during the ‘Storming of the Bastille’ in 1789.
The Bastille no longer exists and the place now holds the July column, a Revolution monument, but if you pay 2 euros you can use the Timescope to see the Bastille in all of its glory. There are other Timescopes, one in the Charles de Gaulle International Airport and another in the Port de’Arcole.
