Following a less-than-perfect launch three years ago, the space exploration title No Man’s Sky went on to win over many players with a series of major updates that incorporated some of the long-awaited features to the game. A few months ago, the game developer Hello Games announced that it would be unveiling the next big release, No Man’s Sky: Beyond soon. Now Hello Games, through its founder Sean Murray, has just announced that the beyond update will be arriving on August 14th.

The update will be free and substantial and will deploy across many platforms including Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In the tweet, Murray has described the Beyond update as “major free update” which will be the studio’s largest update so far. It will pack lots of new features and improvements. The update will have an expanded Online experience that will add a new social and multiplayer experience; VR support that will bring the No Man’s Sky experience to virtual reality and much more.

The Expanded Online update No Man’s Sky: Online is a new multiplayer setting geared to encourage players to play with one another. The Virtual Reality update brings VR to the game enabling players on PC who have a virtual reality headset to play the entire game in VR. The setting enables you to even play the game with friends who are not in VR. The VR mode will, of course, not work on the Xbox One since there isn’t any VR gaming compatibility for this platform.

Another of the major updates that will be arriving on August 14th is the support for PSVR and a host of other VR headsets. The updates will enable players to experience all parts of the game in virtual reality. The Beyond update will also significantly expand the social as well as the multiplayer options of the game, enabling players to meet and play with others.

According to Hello Games, the upcoming update has extensively factored in user feedback from the original No Man’s Sky over the past few years and delivered on the key updates. The Hello Games team is working hard to ensure that this content comes on time as promised.

No Man’s Sky will not ask players spend money on transactions or microtransactions even though it is embracing some MMO-style gameplay. The new update will be free for all players on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Check it on Steam here. You can also watch the trailer below:-
