How to Preorder the Oculus Quest 2 Headset
Preorders opened on 16 September and are expected to ship as soon as October 13.
Facebook’s just launched Oculus Quest headset was tightly kept under wraps right until about mid last month. That is when the leaks began streaming in from various sources on the web. The headset was officially announced during the Facebook Connect on September 16, 2020.
With Oculus Quest 2, Facebook is making a massive play for the VR market. The headset is simply so powerful and so affordably priced that many VR enthusiasts will find it hard to resist. It is a big step forward, too, for the VR industry as it offers significant improvements over the original Quest headset. There is more RAM, a 50% higher resolution display, more storage options, 3D audio as well as improvements in the ergonomics of the headset and of the controllers.
Facebook also announced that the new Oculus Quest 2 headset retails at $299 for the 64GB model and $399 for the 256GB model. However, both of these models do not support expandable storage so if you are planning to play a lot of games at once, it would be prudent to grab the bigger storage Quest 2 which costs only $100 more for 256GB of storage.
All the leading retailers are going to have the Quest 2 available for preorder and the units are expected to begin shipping as soon as October 13.
