Bigscreen VR Introduces Ads Enabling Users to Movies for Free
Bigscreen VR has introduced ads on the app which means users will now be able to watch some awesome ad-supported films on-demand for free.
We all love free digital content but at the end of the day, content providers have to make money to support the free content offering. This usually comes from advertising.
Bigscreen VR is now rolling out a new update that will enable users to access free-to-watch ad-supported movies.
Until now, Bigscreen has been providing users with paid movie rentals in partnership with some of the top entertainment studios such as Funimation and Paramount Pictures. Users who don’t mind the odd ad popping up every now and then can now opt for the ad-supported content to watch some awesome films such as Blair Witch, Arrival, It Follows, Nacho Libre, Clueless, Paranormal Activity 4 and Seabiscuit among many others, for free.
All the free movies offered on Bigscreen are hosted on Pluto.TV and will also feature ads from Pluto.TV. For the time being, this service will only be available in the US. Bigscreen has also confirmed that more films will be added to the app every month. However, Bigscreen’s paid service will still give you the advantage of 3D movies which are not available on its free ad-supported movies.
Bigscreen has been ramping up its content offering lately. Last week, the app expanded its Bigscreen TV feature with over 172 free TV channels available. The company also released a statement mentioning that it is planning to integrate more streaming services in the future and that it was also actively working on launching built-in YouTube support next.
At the moment, the app’s features such as the TV channels are hosted in the public rooms. However, the app is developing a Friends System that will enable users to host their own private rooms. The company also has other technology in the pipeline that will allow large groups of people to stream ultra-low latency video in virtual reality.
The Bigscreen app is available free of charge on various virtual reality platforms including HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, Windows Mixed Reality Headsets, Valve Index and HTC Vive.
