Beat Saber Teases a New Update
Beat Saber studio is teasing a new update that will add new game dynamics. A short trailer released this week shows what fans can expect.

At the Connect 2021 event last October, the studio had indicated that something bigger was in the works. In the latest teaser video clip, the studio teased a new lightsaber along with a level system.
Early in January, Beat Games showcased new sliced sheet music. Apparently, the player must guide the lightsaber along a given path which should produce new movement patterns and choreographies. Until now, the game has been dominated by horizontal and vertical turns.
Beat Games is Unveiling New Innovations
The new half-minute video on Twitter provides the best preview, yet, of the upcoming Beat Saber update. The gameplay innovations include sliding notes and energy strips that may indicate swing path and anticipate notes.
Beat Saber fans can now look forward to the biggest gameplay update yet early in 2022.
It’s been some time since Beat Saber got new game mechanics. The last one was in late 2019 when Beat Games introduced the 90-degree and 360-degree levels. However, the way a player interacts with the blocks remained untouched.
This next update is likely to change and expand the proven game formula and introduce more variety as well as new challenges.
Even without fresh updates, Beat Saber remains one of the most popular VR games and is selling like hotcakes. Some have described it as the ‘Tetris’ of the VR world.
As of February 2021, Beat Games had sold over 4 million Beat Saber copies and netted more than $100 million in revenues in just the Quest platform alone (by October 2021). There is no VR studio that is matching these numbers at the time and its success has even tempted Meta to make a purchase bid for the Czech studio.
Even though there are now hundreds of titles available to both beginners and veteran VR enthusiasts, Beat Saber remains a perfect introduction to the world of virtual reality. The game does not have a steep learning curve and is relatively easy to master, even for complete novices. It is also a cool game that brings out the advantages of the virtual reality medium. Hopefully, we will be seeing additional and similarly successful VR hits in the coming years.
