Rooms of Realities Immerses You into VR Escape Rooms with Meta’s Avatars
The virtual reality game Rooms of Realities brings several escape rooms to create one big story, cooperatively if one so desires.
Rooms of Realities combines a number of mysterious locations ranging from creepy grottos to hidden chambers that contain a huge skull sculpture to create one overarching story. SteamVR just announced this puzzle adventure and the Early Access is set to appear later this year.
Rooms of Realities was developed by Bluekey and is published by Gamedust which is also the publisher behind the plunger-driven VR kosmonaut game Yupitegrad. The developer says Rooms of Realities will be a complete anthology consisting of playable virtual reality stories.
Players in Rooms of Realities set out as a secret agent, a detective, or an adventurer to investigate the disappearance of a particular person in an abandoned hospital. There is a mysterious secret agency that is apparently behind all of this.
A Cooperative Escape for SteamVR
Rooms of Realities begins with three interconnected locations that players can also explore cooperatively. The developer is yet to mention the number of players who can play simultaneously but they are promising an authentic escape room experience in virtual reality.
In the adventures in Rooms of Realities, players will end up in a pyramid as well as in Captain Nemo’s hiding place deep under the sea. Once there, they can pull levers together and unravel rope puzzles and then examine mystical stone artifacts that are reminiscent of portals.
The trailer of the game shows objects being accurately thrown across the room. You can, for instance, send useful items such as candles to your partners in the game.
In cooperative actions such as this, you will be seeing the other players in the form of Meta’s new virtual reality avatars. It is, therefore, likely that Rooms of Realities will have a native Meta Quest 2 implementation even though the developer and the publisher are yet to officially announce it.
Some of the supported devices listed on Steam for the game include HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Oculus Rift. You can play Rooms of Realities directly on Meta Quest (2) via Air Link or Meta Link.
The steam description of the game says its basic game mechanics should be available by the start of the Early Access. The more refined full version of the game will follow two or three months after the Early Access complete with new maps, challenges, modes, cloud saves, achievements, and leaderboards. The price will stay the same at the start of the full version of the game.
