Logitech Announces the Logitech Chorus Near Off-Ear Speakers for Quest 2
Logitech has announced the Chorus near off-ear audio system for the Quest 2 headset. The speakers cost $100.
The Oculus Quest 2 headset already has a strap-pipe audio which is not only portable but also affordable. However, it still doesn’t provide the desired level of loudness and audio quality.
Logitech has been providing headphones and earphones for the Quest 2 headset since its launch close to two years ago. Each of these has a short cable for practicality.
Logitech’s G333 earphones however need an awkward wiring from the audio port to the wearer’s left ear which leaves cords dangling and getting in your way. Logitech’s G Pro headphones are also problematic to pull over a wearer’s head on top of the headset. Both the earphone and the headphone will also completely disconnect you from the real world.
The Logitech Chorus are off-ear speakers. Valve Index was the first to introduce the off-ear speaker concept. The Chorus speakers attach the to the strap arms of the Quest 2 headset and each of the sides is connected via a cable threading through the top strap of the headset making it almost invisible. The speaker connects through a USB-C connection and also features a USB-C passthrough port that can also be used to the charge headset. However, this does not provide Link support.
The speakers will mute when automatically rotated 90 degrees. This allows the wearer to easily talk to others in the room without the need to take the headset off or change the volume.
The Logitech Chorus headset has a “custom-tuned” 47.4mm x 20.3mm Balanced Mode Radiators (BMRs) which the company says deliver “a huge sound stage” of “clear, natural sound.”
