WSJ: Beat Saber Hit $225 Million in Revenues in October 2022
In a post detailing the stiff competition between Meta Platforms and TikTok parent company ByteDance, the Wall Street Journal reports Beat Saber had grossed $255 million in revenues by October 2022.
Beat Saber is one of the most successful virtual reality games so far. Previously, Meta announced that the game had sold 4 million copies in February 2021 which is impressive for a VR-exclusive game.
According to the documents seen by WSJ, the title grossed $100 million on the Quest platform alone. Meta is yet to divulge specific revenue details about the game. Documents now suggest that the game grossed “$255 million in sales over its lifetime” by October last year.
Beat Saber has been the best-selling virtual reality game for the past four years and consistently tops PSVR and Quest charts so it is not surprising that it grossed that much revenue.
Its success has also been driven by the steady stream of DLC music packs by artists such as The Weeknd and Panic! At The Disco. There is also a planned PSVR 2 port.
With the Quest 2 price hike last year, additional efforts such as the bundling of the new headsets with Beat Saber also helped.
Beat Saber is currently available on various platforms including the Meta Quest platform, PSVR, and PC VR. It is not yet known when Beat Saber’s PSVR 2 port will be released.
