Pokemon Go Adds Narrative and Quest System
Starting tomorrow, Pokemon Go players can begin taking on Research Quests after downloading the newest update for the popular Augmented Reality app.
Trainers Are Ready to Conduct Important Pokemon Research!
In case you don’t remember Pokemon Go, it is a mobile AR video game that caused a major revolution in mobile gaming and Augmented Reality applications. The game got both children and adults outdoors looking for Pokemon to catch in every corner of every building, every school, every park, and every mall. The app was downloaded by millions, but like every viral trend, most people forgot about the game and returned to their lives.
Even though the game lost popularity, it’s still very strong in number of active players and new downloads. Niantic Labs, the developer, continuously adds new content to the game and they are also developing a new AR game based on the Harry Potter franchise that will certainly cause a huge revolt among fans.
“A series of mysterious happenings is occurring all over the world, and Professor Willow is seeking Trainers to help him find out if this is connected to the Mythical Pokémon Mew. These research tasks will become available to Trainers around the world later this week!” Writes the Pokemon Go Team on its blog.
Starting tomorrow, Pokemon Go players can take on Research Quests. These are split into two different categories: Special Research Quests and Field Research Quests. Special Research quests are part of new narrative story events. These events lead to a legendary Pokemon encounter and players will have a rare chance at catching them.
Field Research Quests are given out every day at PokeStops and feature simple objectives such as catching particular types of Pokemon or certain amounts of a specific item. When you finish a quest, you are rewarded with a stamp and special items. After accumulating seven stamps, you can then exchange them for Research Breakthroughs, which grant you other special rewards and potential legendary Pokemon encounters.
