Dungeon Nightmares II for Oculus Rift
This week, there has been another addition to the genre of horror based virtual reality games available on the Oculus Rift headset. Dungeon Nightmares II is the sequel to the previously incredibly popular Dungeon Nightmares.
This horror based game has been worked on by indie developer K Monkey. The developing team has assured fans that the game will be fully supported by the Oculus Rift headset. The game has been put up on sites and fans are being asked to vote to boost its popularity before Dungeon Nightmares II is officially launched. Once the needed number of votes is reached, the game will be available for sale on Valve’s digital PC store, assuming it has been formally released.
Dungeon Nightmares (the original version) was only available for mobiles and personal computers. The original version included a first person shooting experience where players were to fight against enemies and explore dungeons, looking for a safe way out. Dungeon Nightmares features a ‘permadeath’ system which basically means that once the player is dead, he/she will have to start from scratch every single time they die. It’s a bit inconvenient to lose all your progress but other than that, the game has been enthusiastically received by fans of this genre. The plus point is, once you come back in the game, an entirely new map layout is given to explore. At least the game will never get boring or monotonous, right? The developers have claimed to better all of these features in the upcoming sequel i.e. Dungeon Nightmares II.
The developing team of Dungeon Nightmares II has mentioned that this game might be a little too scary for some people and have cautioned them to try it on mobiles or PC first, before delving into the virtual reality version. Even the fans claim that it is one of the scariest classic horror games they have ever played. The game includes procedure generated maps and the overall feel is immensely terrifying with it being heavy on the doom and gloom theme. The player remains tense throughout the game because of the apprehensive atmosphere and the fear that your enemy might be lurking in any corner of the dark dungeons.
K Monkey has mentioned that they have spent an incredible amount of time and effort researching the original version and working out the kinks to make an almost flawless sequel. Virtual Reality Times will continue to track the game’s development until its release, reporting with any further updates on its progress.
