Introducing the Hyve-3D
We’ve all heard of video games being brought into the world of virtual reality; but none of us have really given other creative outlets much thought. This one team, though, set out to prove that virtual reality and 3-D technology can be used for so much more than we know and did this with one final product: The Hyve-3D.
The Hyve-3D is basically technology taking us one step further from our traditional mind sets and ideas. It offers a completely immersive software that will allow companies to elevate sketching, drawing and designing to an unprecedented level. The interface is state of the art immersive virtual reality and will make working on it so much more exciting. The final product by the team has not yet been launched for the consumer market. But the developers behind Hyve-3D are working very hard to polish the latest prototype enough to release it to the public very soon.
Hyve-3D is at its basic core an interface created for collaborative 3D sketching which will ultimately lead to 3D content creation. It is bringing a completely new software to the market; one that developers hope will revolutionize the 3D graphic and drawing industry. Hyve-3D is meant to introduce an immersive 3D sketching environment, in the shape of half a hemispherical diagram. This will be based on spherical panoramas and employs the use of 2D drawing planes that are manipulated intuitively with the help of handheld tablets using trackers.
The company was founded very recently and as start-ups go, is still considered extremely young. Despite that and the cutthroat competition in this industry, the developers of Hyve-3D set out to achieve a great goal and are very close to realizing their dreams. The project originated from the University of Montreal and has been making waves in the technology world ever since its entry. The best part about its immersive 3D technology is that it takes the designer into the 3D model itself, which has a huge impact on both perspective and technical aspects of the design created. The sketches can easily be manipulated through hand held tablets and provide a much easier solution to all sorts of designing; as compared to the older methods.
These tablets are connected to a high resolution projector to afford greater visibility. This projector is attached to a standard Mac, which displays the image in real-time using a five meter diameter spherically concave screen, with the help of a domed mirror. In the developers own words, the Hyve-3D is “innovative, non-intrusive and simple”. Keep checking back to Virtual Reality Times for more updates about the Hyve-3D!
