Pixel Ripped 1995 Hits Quest and SteamVR Next Week
Early this year, we published a list of the top VR games to be released in 2020. The list included Half-Life: Alyx, Paper Beast and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners which have so far kept to the schedule. Now another game is set to keep to the deadline; ARVORE’s retro sequel Pixel Ripped 1995. The company has today divulged the release date for the retro title as next week on April 23rd.
The game will be launching on Facebook’s standalone virtual reality headset Oculus Quest and the SteamVR stores on April 23rd. PSVR fans have to wait until May. The developer revealed that the game has already been sent to Sony for review and that the PSVR launch will likely be in May.
Pixel Ripped 1995 is a sequel to Pixel Ripped 1989 which was released in 2018. It chronicles the experiences of young girl with an obsession for fictional videogame series. It has been descried as a game within a game. In the first game (Pixel Ripped 1989), the player has to finish titles in a fictional title also known as ‘Pixel Ripped’ while at the same time trying to avoid detection from a teacher at a school.
In Pixel Ripped 1995, ARVORE is exploring the same concept but the game pays tribute to the SNES gaming era. In this sequel, the player will visit arcades and also sneak into play sessions, sneaking in between the watchful eye of the parents who want to make sure that they are sleeping rather than playing videogames. ARVORE has promised six full levels and that these will feel likely entirely different games.
In spite of its planned launch on Quest, the original game in the series will not be available on the headset. The developer revealed that the application for the release of Pixel Ripped 1989 on the Quest platform had been denied. At the time, Facebook did not reveal its reasons for rejection of the title.
Keep it here to catch up on the release of Pixel Ripped 1995 next week.
