VR Shooter Shock Troops Coming to Quest 2 This Week
Garage Collective’s new virtual reality shooter Shock Troops is arriving on Quest 2 this week.
Shock Troops was first announced in September 2021 and is inspired by classics such as Quake and Doom. This is the newest title from Garage Collective and is the sequel to Theta Legion which launched in 2018.
Shock Troops is a fast-paced shooter with a mix of 3D environments and 2D stripes. It features the frantic gameplay typical of classic shooters but in an immersive virtual reality medium.
The development of Shock Troops borrows a lot from the studio’s previous work in releases such as Theta Legion and Stones of Harlath.
Shock Troops’ artist and designer Cyril Guichard has previously stated that the title is “thematically connected to Theta Legion”, that it has the same Lore and logos and that both titles inhabit the same universe and grapple with similar threats. Guichard continued that Shock Troops is also a new game that features new art and new gameplay as well as “a lot more story.” He stated that the title had plenty of additions and improvements to the previous formula and its name reflects this fact to players.
According to Guichard, Theta Legion had outdoors portions while islands in Harlath which were more “open” proved quite popular with players, and the sequence of indoors vs outdoors spaces in Shock Troops would be designed to reflect that.

You can also add the title to your wishlist on Quest 2.
