SyncReality Intending to Merge Physical and Virtual Reality
SyncReality is aiming to build “house-sized” virtual reality gaming spaces for Meta Quest 2 that will merge the physical and the virtual reality worlds.
SyncReality, a Berlin-based startup wants to eliminate the digital security limitations that5 exist in XR environments using a developer tool. This is done through the automatic and individual adaptation of the virtual environment to the physical world, including the room and the furnishings. As a result, the living room is transformed into a digital playground for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality games. This is all possible without requiring modern safety mechanisms such as guardian boundaries.
The Home is Transformed into an XR Playground
SyncReality says it saw an opportunity for developers and creators. Its auto-adaptive design tool, it says, empowers developers to build seamless experiences for end users which allows them to easily stroll through and intuitively interact with the virtual realms.
The SyncReality platform intends to allow users to create digital doubles via volumetric spatial mapping. That is, the virtual world will adapt to what is in the real world. For instance, a home office can be transformed into a sci-fi lab in a virtual environment. A simple tool in the real world could be turned into ammunition in the VR environment.
This adaptation happens automatically and in real-time. Supposedly, the scanned surfaces give haptic feedback and hence have a correspondingly real feel. SynceReality seamlessly links multiple rooms to create “house-sized” play areas. SyncReality released a video showing a vision of the future whereby a whole home has been digitized and turned into a virtual reality game.
SyncReality is also planning to enhance its XR design tool. An alpha version of this tool is set to be released soon as a Unity plug-in which also is supported by Meta Quest 2 and the Meta Quest Pro VR headset.
SyncReality is also planning for the next iteration of this tool. An asset tool will allow for platform-independent and elastic parametric assets and experiences.
The company is also working on an AI-powered room simulator for test environments along with a marketplace where users can exchange and sell virtual assets. Additionally, SyncReality is working on an Unreal port as well as a Creator Tool that is designed for users who do not have development skills.
SyncReality exhibited its product offering at the Augmented World Expo taking place in Lisbon, Portugal.
