Developer Resolution Games has announced that its mixed reality shooter Spatial Ops is ready for pre-orders. The studio is known for major virtual reality and mixed reality hits that have been a significant part of our VR experience over the past few years.

Spatial Ops features a single-player campaign and is launching before the end of the year as a mixed-reality experience. Interested users can pre-order IT from today in the Meta Horizon Store and enjoy a discount of 25% off its $20 purchase price.

Spatial Ops illustrates the many capabilities of mixed reality (MR) technology that many XR enthusiasts should now be familiar with. For instance, it blends the virtual game into the player’s physical world and meshes the two worlds, according to Resolution Games CEO Tommy Palm.

Agents in Spatial Ops face off against enemies in the Arena Mode who charge at them from behind a wall and hide behind their real-world furniture in their living rooms. The bullets appear to hit your real-world wall and grenades thrown in the melee bounce off the furniture. Palm describes the experience as a “mind-blowing” one incomparable to anything else.

Single Player Campaign Included

Palm revealed that the game will also enable users to play a single-player campaign mode that will immerse them solo into the “ultimate mixed reality experience” where portals to other dimensions will spawn around them. The game also has the Arena version that is built for larger groups of players.

When launched, the game will feature the Arena mode where players can compete with and against their friends or bots in a multiplayer battle mode where everyone is at risk. Players can map out a complete floor plan for laser-tag-style gameplay. You can engage in co-located matches ranging from 1v1 to 4v4 across various game modes, including Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Domination.

It will also feature a single-player campaign where you can uncover the complete story behind the conflict. Set in a setting inspired by 80s action and sci-fi movies, this two-hour experience lets you step into the role of an agent across seven meticulously designed levels. As portals appear from every direction, you’ll follow a fully narrated storyline, evolving your character by unlocking and upgrading weapons while striving to save the world.
