vTime Gets Updated With More Social VR Features
vTime is a virtual social network for the Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, and Samsung Gear VR that lets anyone chat with anyone on their circle of virtual friends, all in VR. And with the latest update to the platform, the company added the ability for users to share photos, along with being able to set your virtual environment using 360-degree photos.
Together with the latest update to the platform, vTime continues to offer 15 different virtual places for their users to socialize on. Some of its immersive virtual environments include an intergalactic experience near the International Space Station, a campfire location, and an under-the-sea location featuring different fishes and other creatures.
vTime initially banked on the popularity of chatting among circles of friends in a virtual yet social setting, and it has proved successful. With the latest features to vTime, users expect a deeper and more personal socializing experience. Martin Kenwright, vTime CEO, says that socializing with others is more than just chatting, but also involves sharing things on a personal level.
Users on vTime will now have access to two new experiences. First up is the vTime Archive, a digital environment where you can share your photos with friends and family. The vTime Archive features a digital projector screen where you can showcase your photos. Next is the vTime 360 Gallery, a virtual place where you can showcase your 360-degree photos and put your friends and family right into the scene.
To complement these new features, vTime also offers free cloud storage where you can store any of your images for sharing. You can also pick any photo from the cloud to share to anyone you chat with, or you may choose to set a 360-degree photo as your chat background.
vTime is available for the Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, and Samsung Gear VR, although the company is targeting to make the social VR experience available soon on the HTC Vive. There is also the possibility of having a PlayStation VR version when Sony launches its VR product.
vTime launched initially with support for the Gear VR and Cardboard VR headsets, and from its launch in December last year it has been widely used by hundreds of thousands of its users across 170 countries worldwide.
