The cross-platform social app vTime XR launched on both Quest and Quest 2 last week.

vTime XR is a free app which is available on a number of devices such as Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Daydream View, Gear VR, Oculus Go as well as the AR-capable mobile devices. Beginning last week, the vTime XR is now available on Oculus Store for the Quest platform.

vTime XR is unlike the other free-wheeling and popular social VR apps such as Rec Room, VRChat in how it offers curated chatrooms as well as intimate and always-seated experiences for up to four users. xTime XR is demurer but it still allows users to share their 360 photos and also watch select streaming content inside a theater space launched mid this year.

vTime XR grew popular early in the pandemic with users who want a less complicated social platform than what is currently on offer in VR. The Liverpool, UK-based platform has so far seen a 79% increase in daily new uses since the beginning of the lockdown measures around mid-March.

Following the launch of Oculus Quest 2 headset and the launch of the vTime XR social app on the Quest 2 platform, the app is likely to see a dramatic increase in users who want a quiet respite away from the raging chaos of the coronavirus pandemic.
