Aside from the focus of virtual reality in gaming, it has made its way to the intersection of music and arts. An interactive exhibit starring virtual reality technology is making a big presence at the upcoming South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival, to be presented by a company called Marxent Labs.

Marxent Labs is a technology company specializing in bringing virtual reality to sales and marketing applications. The company develops customized applications for mobile platforms such as iOS and Android to enhance product visualizations that promote marketing and sales. Marxent Labs will be having a booth on the SXSW 2015 to demonstrate the HoloDeck, a virtual reality exhibit and augmented reality holoroom showcase.

The booth at SXSW will be demoing the VisualCommerce 3D Virtual Reality Design Studio and Showroom, featuring the Samsung Gear VR headset and the Apple iPad. The VisualCommerce 3D initiative gives an opportunity to exhibit large-scale projects to potential customers, eliminating the need to create physical samples of projects that further increase cost and complications associated with such act. Instead of tangible product models, the initiative by Marxent Labs enable product demos in 3D that in turn enhance sales experience and conversions for businesses.

A handful of companies have already took advantage of the VisualCommerce VR system. One of these companies is AZEK Building Products, which collaborated with Marxent Labs to create the AZEK iPad app. Instead of bringing physical models of their products, they have leveraged the VisualCommerce platform with the iPad app to visualize the company’s products to potential contractors. Other companies which make use of the virtual reality-powered VisualCommerce include Lowe’s Home Improvement and Simmons Bedding Company. These companies are already benefiting from enhanced sales demos and ecommerce.

The VisualCommerce VR initiative will be having a dedicated booth at the SXSW. Marxent Labs will be setting up their demos of VisualCommerce at Exhibit 1560, running through March 15-18.

The South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival is an annual event showcasing liberal arts and some of the latest technologies. Attendees include entrepreneurs, tech evangelists, and developers, helping to create the intersection of technology and art. It is held in Austin, TX, and will run from the 13th to the 22nd of March.
