Explore the Cosmos in VR with Fistful of Stars
Fistful of Stars is an overwhelming VR space experience. It takes you to the heart of the Orion Nebula, a beautiful place in space where stars are being born.
Fistful of Stars will be Available for the Samsung Gear VR
Fistful of Stars is a lovely virtual and sound experience that started out as part of The Hubble Cantata, a live performance show that took place in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park last year. Around 6,000 people wore Google Cardboard VR headsets and launched into the Orion Nebula as a way to show people how Virtual Reality, which is typically isolating, could also become a social and engaging experience. The show featured a 20-piece orchestra and a 100-person choir.
“The current version of Fistful of Stars has been improved since its initial run, and it’s backed by a 3D audio recording of The Hubble Cantata. I chose the Orion Nebula because it’s the birthplace of stars. I wanted to be able to take people on a journey into space.”
Said director Eliza McNitt.
Fistful of Stars will be released in June for the Samsung Gear VR. It’s a short virtual experience, but it’s still quite amazing. You start the video orbiting planet Earth and then you travel to the breathe-taking Orion Nebula through the Hubble telescope. All images were obtained by the Hubble itself, and they were rendered with a realistic, yet beautiful, style.
