EmbodyMe Uses Your Real Face as an Avatar in VR
EmbodyMe is a VR social app that offers an interesting set of social activities to do with your friends, but its popular feature is the avatar creation system.
Social VR with Your Face Mapped into the Avatar
EmbodyMe allows you to set up your custom character by uploading a picture of yourself, you can upload it from your PC or use the webcam. The app will then map your face onto your VR avatar. It’s quite simple to do and it shows you set of funny examples including Jackie Chan and Barack Obama.
The social app can also detect people’s voice to synchronize the lips with the avatar, and facial expressions can be recreated with the controller. If you love to create and edit your own avatars you will enjoy this process and spend a lot of time in it, EmbodyMe lets you dress up the avatar to fit any desired style. The social VR app also has an accurate tracking algorithm that replicates the location of your arms in Virtual Reality with no need for extra trackers.
EmbodyMe will be available on Steam Early Access on March 25th with support for both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
