Samsung released a new app that allows Samsung Gear VR compatibility with a great number of third-party apps that provide VR streaming video services.
Samsung PhoneCast Streams VR Videos to your Gear VR
The Samsung Gear VR a great headset for watching VR content with its massive 200-inch screen but third-party apps are not compatible with the system. This changes with the new app that allows several third-party apps fully compatible with the Samsung Gear VR.
The phonecast app allows users to watch streaming video content on the Gear VR’s screen. It is compatible with many apps, including YouTube, Crackle, Epix, Sling TV, Xfinity, Hulu, Kodi, and Plex. It is also compatible with MX and VLC Player. Samsung is said to add support for even more video apps soon. We expect Amazon’s Prime Video to be included in future additions.
PhoneCast presents you with a scenic background with lakeside campfire when you launch it, and it shows you all the compatible video streaming apps that you can access. You can change the size, position, and video brightness of the virtual screen.
