The Israeli startup Multinarity says it has raised $28 million in an initial investment round. The funding mainly came from the venture capital firms Corner Ventures and VC Aleph.

Multinarity was founded in June 2020 and it hasn’t revealed what exactly it received the huge funding for. However, it made it clear that it is focused on XR software and might very likely develop slim AR glasses in the future.

The two founders behind the startup, Tamir Berliner and Torner Kahan have promised a product that is suitable for everyday use, that can be used daily or permanently, and which can promote the creativity and productivity of the wearer.

During the exclusive unveiling of their startup at Calcalistech, the two founders were photographed with slim glasses in their hands and also in front of a shelf that is full of tech glasses.

Both Kahan and Berliner have extensive professional experience developing XR technology. Multinarity co-founder and CEO Berliner was also the co-founder of the sensor specialist Primsense which Apple acquired in 2013. Most recently, Berliner was a high-ranking manager at Magic Leap Israel.

The other co-founder, Kahan, has also worked as a manager at Magic Leap and before that, was the vice president at N-Trig that developed Stylus technology and was partially acquired by Microsoft in 2015.

The Multinarity founders have huge plans. They are planning to capture talent with the promise that Multinarity will develop the “first killer app for mixed reality”. It is a big pitch, not unlike Magic Leap’s original pitch for its mixed reality glasses.

A General-Purpose Software for Everyday XR

The website Calcalistech has already tested the Multinarity software and has termed it as easy to use, mobile and intended for everyday use rather than for entertainment or for a specific target group like designers or developers.
