Hands-On Kite & Lightning’s The Voice 360: Be the Coach
The Voice, a very popular American reality television singing competition that airs on NBC, recently introduced a new immersive experience for promotional purposes. Named ‘The Voice 360: Be the Coach‘, the virtual experience is an amazing opportunity for the fans to feel what it is like to be one of the judges.
The channel arranged city tours where people got to meet and talk with the judges of The Voice such as Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton, sit in the legendary swiveling chair and with the use of the Oculus Rift, watch and judge the blind auditions virtually with rest of the fellow judges.
A short time after the premiere, the developers behind the idea were unveiled. It was Kite & Lightning, a creative development studio renowned for their impressive virtual reality experiences, which offered the awesome opportunity. On their website, Kite & Lightning mentioned that The Voice 360 is rather different from their usual fantasy and sci-fi experiences. They were approached by NBC to create a VR component for their Voice 3D 360 chair tour. Even though, the company was apprehensive that the experiment might not be successful but they still decided to go ahead and give it a try. Good thing they did! Kite & Lightning’s immersion of The Voice achieved great popularity and became a hit among the show’s fans. To the delight of Kite & Lightning and all the fans, NBC went above and beyond and allowed the experience to be available online. The studio is ecstatic over the response they have had from the fans. Currently, The Vocie 360: Be The Coach can be downloaded for free from the official Oculus VR Share Beta on PC.
The Voice 360: Be the Coach toured three cities in total over the course of two weeks. The tour began in New York on September 9 followed by Chicago and Los Angeles and ended on September 22, 2014, the very same day the latest season of The Voice debuted on NBC. All the immersive experiences were conducted in the best spots of the cities like Rockefeller Plaza, 1271 Avenue of the Americas, Poineer Plaza and The Grove.
