Another busy week in XR comes to and end. This is a recap of some of the major industry developments that happened over the past seven days.

Ubiquity6 Adds Display.Land Codeless Game Engine to Capture App

This week, Ubiquity6 announced its plans to launch Display.Land Studio as a companion to its widely popular Display.land app over the coming year. The Display.Land AR app was announced last fall and enables smartphone users to capture the volume of space and then navigate this in 3D.

The scans generated can then be shared on the platform’s social network as well as on other social platforms. Apart from these captures, Display.Studio will also make it possible for users to add animation, objects as well as content from other sources like Sketchfab into their scenes. Users can subsequently find these additions in the real world where they will be overlaid exactly in the spot they were in inside the 3D scan. The Display.Land Studio has been described as a “codeless game engine for everyone”. Any user is able to request early access currently. The Beta access for Display.land Studio has been slated for Spring 2020 with the general access slated for summer 2020.

Sales of the technology has already started in the US and hardware shipments are scheduled for the first quarter of 2020.
