Valve Reveals SteamVR Knuckles Controllers
Valve revealed its Knuckles controllers for the SteamVR in a rather unconventional way. A setup guide for developers disclosed everything about the controllers.
Knuckles Quick Start –The Developer Kit
Valve uploaded a quick start guide so that developers can get to know how to handle the Knuckles controllers. It features a lot of useful information for anyone interested, maybe more information than we expected to see right now. The controllers have several buttons below, two face buttons close to the trackpad, and a system button. There is also a trigger button and a micro-USB port for charging.
Valve also included plenty of information on how to install the controllers and you can check how exactly you are supposed to use them. It also mentions finger tracking capabilities in the Knuckles, which you have to calibrate first in order to try it.
Developers can use the knuckles controllers inside a beta version of the SteamVR Home, unfortunately, though, the battery life of the controllers can only last for three hours, and they take an hour to charge completely. We sure hope this gets improved for the consumer version.
The post is interesting in more ways though, it means that some developers already put their hands on the knuckles controllers, which is a good sign that it might release soon for consumers and VR titles will be compatible with it.
