Top AR Firm Teams Up With Tech Giants for First-Rate Immersive Gaming Experience
Trigger XR, an immersive XR experiences firm, has partnered with South Korea’s LG Uplus and the Global Telco Alliance for its Dinotracker augmented reality (AR) app that commemorates the release of Jurassic World: Dominion.
Trigger XR uses the Lightship AR development kit (ARDK) to create engaging immersive experiences celebrating the release of the movie. The experience enables Jurassic World: Dominion fans and enthusiasts to explore the AR dinosaurs in real-time 3D, immersive storytelling, and lifelike visualizations.
Trigger XR worked with Universal Pictures, Korea Creative Content Agency, and Qualcomm Technologies to create the AR-powered experience.
Like in the film, the Trigger XR experience entails humans and dinosaurs co-existing globally. Gamers need to sight the reptilian neighbors and document them with notifications and reports through the app’s scanning feature.
The immersive experience has some of the most popular dinosaurs that were featured in the original movie such as the massive carnotauruses, baby velociraptors along with the king of the Kingdom, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, among other dinosaurs.
The creators say they wanted to bring out the most realistic experiences possible using the Dinotracker AR app and to enable fans to feel like all the majestic creatures are right in front of them in an immersive setting.
Jurassic World in an Immersive Setting
Surfaces are scanned by Niantic’s Lightship ARDK to unearth key experience settings for generating RT3D content in real-time which enables the Pteranodons to fly while the Dilophosauruses graze in the physical grasslands.
The app also makes use of spatial awareness and occlusion technologies that generate depth information and which allow users to create the context for interactive content that appear behind walls, objects along with other items.
Users can leverage the hand-tracking features in the game to feed the dinosaurs in real-time and to even snap pics with the virtual dinosaurs through Apple Core machine learning (ML) in both iOS and Google’s MediaPipe on Android.
The Dinotracker AR app also generates walkable planes that are shown through the 3D mesh representations of the surroundings of a user’s environment where the dinosaurs navigate the real-life physical locations. The AR app even allows users to point lasers at dinosaurs and thereby bring some of the species into the game.
The Dinotracker AR app also integrates realistic interactions with dinosaurs as well as reactive animations via high-fidelity 3D modeling, audiovisual content, and behaviors. If the players get too close, the dinosaurs can snap at them or simply flee.
Players in the Dinotracker AR app add to the content in the game when they track the dinosaurs across the web-based Dinotracker map of the game to build a community of dino-hunters for exploring the Jurassic World characters outdoors, sharing photos and videos as well as interacting on social media through hashtags like #dinotracker and #JurassicWorldDominion.

Recently, Trigger XR announced a joint effort experience in partnership with the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) for the launch of a mobile app targeting young golfing enthusiasts dubbed Safari Par-Tee. The app reportedly allows for collaborative and real-time gaming competitions in real-world locations.
Augmented reality developers have also tapped into Niantic’s Lightship ARDK platform to create immersive and interactive experiences such as Pokemon Go which remains the most successful AR gaming experience.
The augmented reality gaming platform Izumi World has also created an innovative gaming bundle that enables users to catch, train and fight virtual Izumi creatures that roam the actual physical environment across the globe and earn NFTs (non-fungible tokens) as a prize in the process.
