Motorbike

Virtual reality and its uses are expanding day by day; so are the applications, games and tolls being developed for it. A thrilling new game has been added for virtual reality by the name of ‘Motorbike’.

As discussed before, not all video games developed for virtual reality place the player in the first person place. Many new games are being developed with the third person perspective added to the game. One such example is the game Toybox Turbos developed by Codemasters, which has recently added support for Oculus Rift’s headset for virtual reality. This week, another example of third person gaming perspective is being launched with the game ‘Motorbike’. The game is set in the driving and racing genre and has been created by indie developer baKno Games.

Motorbike is not your usual driving or racing game. It has been created with a different idea in mind and that seems obvious after looking at the course set for the driver in this game. It has been compared to the popular game ‘Trials’. The reason for this is of course the kind of challenges set in Motorbike. The players are told to navigate their way through a series of courses each harder than the last, all requiring extreme skill in driving and include stunts that appear to defy the basic laws of physics. The main feature that sets apart Motorbike from other similar games is that virtual reality support that has been incorporated in it along with sharing tools and the option to edit the course laid out for the player. Motorbike already has a cache of 100 impressive course layouts but with the integrated course editor, players can create their own courses and share them with other players all over the world. The created courses are uploaded online and are made available for download for other players. Users can also choose from a variety of different bikes and riding avatars.

Motorbike by baKno Games has been given support for virtual reality, especially Oculus Rift’s headset and development kit. It is available for download on the Oculus Share website and has versions compatible with PC and Mac both. Whether a Linux version is to be released or not, the developer has yet to specify. The developer hasn’t mentioned adding any new features to the game as yet but Virtual Reality Times will keep following the progress and report back with any further updates.
