Verde Station

In this day and age of advanced digital technology, it is almost unheard of for a developer to create, announce and launch a game all without outside funding or campaigning for votes.

Indie developer Duelboot Games has done exactly that – not a small feat on their part. ‘Verde Station’ has been launched with the full version of the game without a Kickstarter funding campaign. The game is compatible with virtual reality and support for the Oculus Rift headset is coming soon for it. Back in July of 2014, Duelboot Games gave the public the first look of Verde Station, which had full Oculus Rift support and was available on the Steam Greenlight website. In September of the same year, an ‘Early Version’ of Verde Station was released by the developer at the request of enthusiastic fans of the game. Now, the full version of the title has been launched but it has yet to receive compatibility support for Oculus Rift’s virtual reality headset.

A holiday sale has been announced on the Steam website, until 2nd January, 2015. Thanks to this holiday promotion, Verde Station is now available at a discounted price at the website, for only £3.49 GBP; once this sale ends the price for the title increases almost double – at £6.99. The game revolves around a story set in a space station and is played in the first person perspective. Players are introduced as the main protagonist who has been charged with a mission that he has to complete on his own. The mission involves looking after the facility and is supposed to last an entire year. Once the isolation starts hitting the player, he starts to question his state of mind as he feels more and more insane due to the lack of social interaction and human contact. Verde Station is all about the player and his story, with the entire game focusing on interacting with space and fulfilling the mission. It offers no puzzle or combat featured levels. Players are allowed to interact with their environment in various ways that become clear as the game progresses further.

Duelboot Games has announced that VR support will definitely be added to the game in an update soon but not in the immediate future. Currently, Verde Station is being tested for virtual reality compatibility and will soon receive the update. Virtual Reality Times will keep following the progress of Verde Station and report back with further updates.
