To meet the ever-growing demands of the virtual reality content industry, VR company Jaunt has recently launched its own movie studio called Jaunt Studios.

Jaunt Studios will be focusing its operations on developing, producing, and collaborating on live VR experiences. Strategically established in Los Angeles, California, Jaunt will have full access to working with Hollywood professionals for creating the most realistic and immersive virtual content in the near future. The VR studio is also developing in-house virtual content along with other media genres including sports, travel, and music. These original VR content will be initially launched through Jaunt’s partnership with Conde Nast Entertainment, a virtual content subsidiary of Conde Nast, in the form of two virtual reality show series. The VR series will feature Conde Nast’s wide array of content such as travel, fashion, and technology, among others.

In line with this launch, Jaunt has absorbed some of the industry’s top professionals into its corporate portfolio to further strengthen the studio’s production efforts. Leading the Jaunt Studios is Cliff Plumer, a former CEO of Digital Domain and CTO of Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic. Also joining Jaunt Studios are Hollywood veterans and Lucasfilm alumni Miles Perkins and David Anderman. Anderman is taking Jaunt’s Chief Business Officer post to further promote Jaunt’s business expansion and venture opportunities while also taking care of the studio’s production efforts to meet the industry’s high demand for VR-optimized content.

Thanks to Jaunt Studios, Jaunt will be able to fully harness the creative professionals’ talents and expertise in content creation and apply it to cinematic virtual reality content. Located in Los Angeles, Jaunt Studios will be coordinating with Jaunt’s team based in Palo Alto, California to deliver cinematic virtual content to the mainstream audiences around the world.

Jens Christensen, CEO of Jaunt, said in a press release, “Entertainment and the way we consume content of all kinds, from film to music to sports, is evolving quicky, especially with the proliferation of smartphones. Virtual reality is already making a huge role in the future of media and this is just the beginning.” He added, “Jaunt Studios will allow us to put more specific resources and expertise behind creative content, while at the same time the Jaunt team in Silicon Valley can continue to build best-of-class technology.”

According to Cliff Plumer, President of Jaunt Studios, “The entertainment industry is undergoing a fundamental shift in the way content is created, consumed, and delivered. The next wave of innovation is upon us and it’s called VR. There will be a huge demand for high-quality virtual reality experiences, and Jaunt Studios will be there to meet this demand. I’m excited to be a part of this new field and the team at Jaunt.”

Jaunt is a virtual reality content company launched in 2013 and based in Palo Alto, California that continues to expand a huge portfolio of immersive, 360-degree virtual reality experiences.
