Palmer Luckey Leaves Facebook after Trump Scandal

Palmer Luckey anonymously donated $10,000 to a group of Trump supporters that used to make memes during the US presidential campaign. The 24-year old millionaire suddenly disappeared from the public eye after the scandal. He even missed last Oculus Connect event to prevent any distraction to the news.

Facebook bought Oculus VR for $2 billion in 2014, significantly increasing everyone’s attention on both Virtual Reality and Palmer Luckey himself. Last year, Oculus had legal battles that involved Palmer Luckey and John Carmack. The main accusations centered around the latter, which supposedly stole trade secrets. In the end, Facebook had to pay $500 million because Luckey failed to comply with a non-disclosure agreement he previously signed with Zenimax.

“Palmer will be dearly missed. Palmer’s legacy extends far beyond Oculus. His inventive spirit helped kickstart the modern VR revolution and build an industry. We’re thankful for everything he did for Oculus and VR, and we wish him all the best.”
