Gorillaz’ 360 Video is the Most Successful Debut
Gorillaz’ 360-degree music video for its new track, Saturnz Barz, received more than 3 million views on YouTube in the first 48 hours, the biggest debut ever for a 360 music video in history. The track is part of Gorillaz’ 5th album, Humanz, which will release on April 28th.
Saturnz Barz is the Most Successful 360 Video Debut
The British band Gorillaz have always impressed the world with its innovative production techniques. They did a hologram trick with Madonna at the Grammy Awards in 2006 and featured a mix of CGI and 2D characters for their DoYaThing video in 2012. Now they stepped up their innovative nature with Saturnz Barz, which was released in conventional and 360 formats last month.
The 360 video is quite amazing, it includes innovative camera positions and new animation techniques that satisfy viewers with interesting and exciting perspectives at any moment.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the results of Gorillaz’ ‘Saturnz Barz’ collaboration with the team at YouTube/Google Spotlight Stories. It’s truly historic to see technology reach the point where it can allow us all to realize the innovative vision that Damon and Jamie have had going back to the day they conceived Gorillaz—and it’s amazing to see that millions of Gorillaz fans are actually entering that world like never before. We are so grateful to the team at YouTube/Google Spotlight Stories for making that possible.”
Said Niamh Byrne of Eleven Management.
