VR Tracker Replicates your Hands and Keyboard

The HTC Vive team and Logitech worked together to help developers enter text while creating their VR applications and games with a software and hardware package. The BRIDGE kit costs $150 and it includes a Vive Tracker that is able to track typing to replicate it in Virtual Reality and a Logitech G keyboard. Logitech only released 50 units of the kits just to start, but it promises to see crossover tech that brings real-life gadgets into virtual reality. And it works across the entire Steam VR system.

The Vive tracker is able to match the keys you type and it also measures your hand movements, making it much easier to replicate you in VR. The kit brings the keyboard to developers’ digital workspaces, which is an absolute boost for those interested in better developing tools for their creations. The BRIDGE SDK allows creators to customize their keyboards in Virtual Reality, so they can remap all functions and features based on context.

The tracker doesn’t just match what keys you type — it measures your hand movements too, making it a lot easier to situate yourself. This brings the keyboard into your digital workspace, which is great for everything from internet browsing to knowing which macro and function keys you’re pressing. Best of all, the BRIDGE SDK enables users to customize their keyboards in VR, meaning you can remap all the functions based on context.

Developers based in the United States are the only ones that can apply for the first 50 kits in the beta program until November 16th. “If there is sufficient interest we may build additional kits for purchase after the initial batch is distributed,” Said Vincent Tucker, the Director of Innovations and Strategy of Logitech.
