Beat Saber Has Just Enabled Casting for Oculus Quest
You now say goodbye to the Beat Saber mods. The Beat Saber casting for Oculus Quest is finally available to Quest owners at no extra fee.
Beat Saber developer Beat Games broke the news of the casting availability on Twitter. The Quest version of the popular virtual reality rhythm game was one of the only few titles that didn’t work with casting and users had to rely on various mods to try and make this work. In the absence of casting, users could still enjoy the wireless beat slashing gameplay on their Oculus Quest headsets but they couldn’t share the experiences with friends who were not on virtual reality.
With the casting support just enabled yesterday, players will now be able to cast to their mobile devices as well as in a variety of recent Chromecast models so as to get everybody onboard with the Beat Saber fun.
Beat Saber hasn’t stated why the initial launch of the title did not support casting. The studio stated that there were a few aspects that they were still working on before the launch of the title. Unlike other virtual reality headsets that support Beat Saber, the Oculus Quest offers several advantages. Apart from its enhanced specs, it is also a standalone system which is completely self-contained which means you don’t have to rely on tethering with smartphone or PCs. You also won’t have to rely on external sensors or base stations during setup. These enhancements mean that Beat Saber will be more accessible on the Oculus Quest headset than in other virtual reality headsets.
The casting update has also come just in time before the second Beat Saber music pack arrives. The next Beat Saber downloadable content (DLC) music pack will arrive on June 10. The first paid music pack was released on March 14 this year. In the future, Beat Saber will also incorporate some form of custom songs support for the Oculus Quest VR headset so there is still some exciting stuff from Beat Games to look forward to.
